Some custom projects carry a special kind of meaning, and this was one of them.
A gentleman visited LJC Jewelers with a thoughtful request. He brought in a gold ring he planned to send to someone important to him in the Philippines. He wanted the inside of the band engraved with a single Filipino word: “Gwapa.”
In Visayan, gwapa means “beautiful.” Though simple, the word carried deep emotional value for him and was meant to be a personal reminder of affection for the woman receiving the ring.
Because the engraving was in another language, we took extra care to understand the exact spelling, meaning, and intention behind it. We discussed the best placement inside the band, the appropriate font style, and the ideal size to ensure the engraving looked clean and elegant.
Once the details were finalized, we began the engraving process. Our jeweler carefully aligned the ring and engraved the word with precision, ensuring each letter was sharp and centered. After engraving, the ring was polished and inspected to guarantee the finish met our quality standards.
The final result was simple, refined, and meaningful — a ring carrying a word that represented culture, connection, and the bond between two people separated by distance.
This project reminded us once again that jewelry can bridge worlds. Even when languages differ, the emotions behind the requests are universal. At LJC Jewelers, we’re honored to help create pieces that speak not only through craftsmanship but through the stories they carry.
